Bob Wilson started writing lyrics in 1975, before he ever picked up a guitar.

His first song, "Muzak is Pollution of the Mind" was performed by another singer.

"I 'wrote' the tune on a harmonica," he recalled. "It was very frustrating."

Blessed with a natural 'ear' for music, Bob turned to the guitar, teaching himself to play. Then began a very prolific period, leading to awards for songwriting in New Zealand and Australia. His anti-war satire, The Almost Armageddon Waltz, was published in a national magazine.

Songwriting gave way to other writing interests in the 1980s as Bob pursued his journalism career and raised a family. Since the mid-1990s, though, he has returned strongly to the songwriting craft, releasing four CDs and already planning his fifth.

Bob continues to write songs which are insightful, warm or humorous, and sometimes all of these things at once.
